Matthew Bailey graduated from the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business. He then received his Juris Doctor degree from the Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, Matthew spent time interning with the 30th Judicial Circuit Court and with the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office. After graduation, Matthew clerked at the Michigan Court of Appeals.
During his free time, Matthew enjoys following Michigan State University athletics, being on the water, and playing golf.
Matthew’s practice focuses primarily on family law and all matters pertaining to divorce, including custody, visitation, property settlement and alimony. Mr. Bailey is concerned that many people do not understand their rights regarding divorce and are willing to simply take their spouse or Court's initial offers without determining whether they are entitled to receive more.
Matthew also works with clients involved in criminal matters outside of his focus on family law. His experience while working at the Eaton County Prosecutor’s office is invaluable in providing additional guidance and representation to clients with criminal matters.
The lawyers in Matthew’s office specialize in family law and litigation and have over 100 years of combined legal experience. The courteous support staff at Bailey, Smith & Bailey, P.C. are also extremely skilled in all legal matters and have over forty years of combined experience.
